Call us cliché, but at the end of a long work week, our guilty pleasures always include a little LMN {that’s Lifetime Movie Network for those who possess a Y chromosome}, a beverage of the alcoholic variety and sweets. What can we say? Something saccharine + the sauce is always a winning combination. Which is why it didn’t take us long to fall in love with Sugar Knife – the newest addition to our lineup of sweets here at Oxford Hall. This Oakland-based confectioner lives and dies by sugar and booze, infusing them into traditional treats like marshmallows and brittle to make something h*lla delicious {when in Oakland…}.
Besides being just plain awesome, owners Josh and Jenna make all of Sugar Knife’s goodies by hand in small batches and use only the finest ingredients. That means absolutely no preservatives {as if they’d last long enough to need them}, food dyes or other scary sounding acronyms or otherwise unpronounceable words. They also have a certain je ne sais quois when it comes to naming their concoctions – which leads to playful monikers like “Lemonage à Trois” and “You Fancy, Huh?.” The result is – well, something you’re going to need to taste. Trust us.
